A green revolution in the substrate market
Cocopeat is the sole organic component of BIOGROW substrates.
Produced by selected coconut plantations, coconuts, whose fibre is extracted from the husk, are cultivated, harvested, processed on-site, and used in their raw form, without any chemical addition. We meticulously measure the stability of cocopeat and its humidity level until we obtain the appropriate elements for processing. Then, the particles and raw fibers are sorted to remove all impurities, before being graded and assembled, and compacted. The entire process is supervised at all times by highly skilled staff, with a keen eye for even the minutest of imperfections.
As a soilless growing medium, cocopeat has complete, unique properties for agriculture:
From an environmental aspect, Cocopeat is 100% natural, completely recyclable and renewable, and has a low carbon footprint with a high level of stability.
On the physical side, cocopeat has a much higher buffering capacity than that of rockwool, with excellent diffusion capacity and a high rehydration capacity.

Natural
The favoured substrate for tropical and temperate climates, our Natural range has unique environmental properties and is made up of materials produced directly in our defibring workshops. The process involves sifting through the raw material to remove fine particles, which helps to ensure better root aeration for plants.
Properties
As a more vegetative substrate than others in our range, Natural substrates have excellent water retention while maintaining good drainage and aeration, essential for providing a more generative action during the winter growing season.
Finished product
Fine on the surface and offering homogenous humidity, BIOGROW manufactures our Natural range by giving each substrate a longitudinal groove beneath; this improves aeration and the drainage capacity of the moistest part of the substrate. To ensure correct installation and to help save on the cost of labour, we offer our clients pre-drilled substratess.
Duo
Our Duo substrate is an innovative product and the result of biotechnology research. The substrate Duo is completely recyclable and renewable as it is also the case for all Biogrow products. It results from the mixture of 50% of sifted materials produced in defibring workshops (Natural type) and 50% of coco chips derived from complete crushing process of the coconut mesocarp.
Properties
Maintains a well-balanced air/water ratio. It can be either generative or vegetative depending on the climate and operations.
Finished product
The BIOGROW manufacturing process results in a substrate with a gradual grain texture – finer on the surface and rougher inside. It has a longitudinal groove beneath, which improves the aeration and drainage capacity of the moistest part of the substrate. To enable proper installation and save on labour costs, we can deliver pre-drilling substrates.
Air
Our Air substrate is a new generation product. This is a 100% natural, renewable and recyclable product. It is made up of 20% of sifted materials produced in defibring workshops (Natural type) and 80% of coco chips derived from complete crushing process of the coconut mesocarp. This is the perfect substrate for cultures in Continental Europe and regions with temperate oceanic climate.
Properties
High aeration and drainage capacities, which require specific irrigation techniques. This is a more generative substrate and it is used mainly in temperate oceanic climate regions and for cultures not tolerating high humidity levels.
Finished product
The Air substrate has a gradual grain texture – finer on the surface and rougher beneath. To enable proper installation and save on labour costs, we can deliver pre-drilling substrates.
