Established in April 2024 to help provide foundational training courses for soilless growing, and to produce small quantities of fresh produce for sale locally – currently cherry tomatoes and bell peppers – Protec is a subsidiary of Biogrow Substrates India, and is based in Bangalore, Karnataka. On site, we have a large, state-of-the-art polyhouse, and a small training center with a classroom and offices. All produce grown on site is done so using our own substrates, and sold to local buyers under the brand name of Readyripe; which perfectly describes our premium, sweet cherry tomatoes ripened to perfection, and delightfully crunchy bell peppers! Conducting regular, rigorous testing on all products, we guarantee produce that is not only safe for human consumption, but that is fresh, ripe and tasty.
Our state-of-the-art polyhouse is fully equipped to give interested growers valuable insights into how healthy crops are cultivated using cocopeat substrates (our own, of course!). With the help of our own experienced agronomists, and a training course facilitator, we have designed a 2-day course that is entirely free of charge for our existing clients, and available at cost to all other growers, in which participants will learn the entire process of growing without soil. Right from selecting a location for setting up a polyhouse, all the way through to proper irrigation, fertigation, and the tackling of diseases, courses are comprehensive, with firsthand, expert guidance and plenty of opportunities for Q and As.
Ultimately, we hope to become a center for learning that growers throughout the country can depend upon to help them grow healthy crops using cocopeat substrates, but in the meantime, we’ll settle for sharing our wealth of knowledge with anyone interested!
